NDIS — HOW SIL WORKS

What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for the support you need to live in your own home. It covers the day-to-day help — personal care, daily tasks, building skills, and overnight support — that lets you live as independently as possible.
SIL pays for the support, not the rent or housing itself. It’s usually funded when you need a higher level of daily support, and it’s most common in shared living arrangements, though it can also apply to living on your own.

Is SIL in my plan?

SIL is funded under the Core Supports budget of your NDIS plan, in Assistance with Daily Life. If you’re not sure whether you have SIL funding, your support coordinator or planner can confirm — and we’re happy to help you make sense of it.
